About this product
Warm Hearth Tea is Botanical Biohacking’s version of Er Chen Er Zhu Tang, a classical modification of Er Chen Tang with two kinds of atractylodes: Bai Zhu (white) and Cang Zhu (red).
Bai Zhu warms and dries the Spleen and Lungs and lifts qi from the digestive to the respiratory system. Cang Zhu is prized for its drying capacity, and the Imperial grade used here is rich in aromatic volatile oils. Guang Huo Xiang / Agastache adds a lifting, warming aromatic note.
In TCM Terms
Warm Hearth is the formula of choice when cold, damp phlegm in the digestive system rises to cloud the head. It is for the heavy, foggy, low-energy pattern that often comes with a poor morning appetite or mild queasiness at the thought of food. If breakfast is hard to face, try a strong cup of Warm Hearth and a drizzle of Sichuan Chili Oil on your breakfast.
Herb Nerd Highlights
Most Er Chen on the market uses Fa Ban Xia. Botanical Biohacking uses the original Ban Xia Qu, a fermented mix of Ban Xia (Pinellia), ginger juice, and Shen Qu. It is harder to make and is the true traditional preparation.
The pharmacopeia requires a Huo Xiang leaf:stem ratio of no less than 1:4. Ours is ≥1:2, which means more leaf and more of the aromatic oils that transform dampness.
