Reclaim Your Hair After Long COVID & Post-Viral Illness
Post-viral hair loss (telogen effluvium) is one of the most distressing and least-discussed consequences of long COVID, Epstein-Barr virus reactivation, and other post-viral syndromes. The mechanism is now well understood: SARS-CoV-2 dysregulates normal nitric oxide production and distribution, triggering the telogen (shedding) phase of the hair cycle and causing massive, sudden hair loss.
In many patients this resolves on its own within 6 months — but not always, and many people don’t want to wait. More importantly, if the underlying viral load and microbiome disruption are not addressed, the hair loss may continue or recur.
The Post-Viral Hair Support Protocol uses three clinically selected TCM formulas to work in two stages: first clearing the viral load and restoring nitric oxide balance, then nourishing the blood and stimulating follicle return to the growth phase.
Purchased separately, these products retail for over $275. Bundled together, we offer them at a significant discount.
The Science: Why Post-Viral Hair Loss Happens
SARS-CoV-2 can linger in body tissues for weeks or months, disrupting normal nitric oxide metabolism and directly inhibiting hair growth. The virus can also populate the gastrointestinal tract and shift the GI microbiome to an unhealthy profile — further disrupting the nitric oxide homeostasis that healthy hair follicles depend on.
Until the viral load is cleared and the microbiome is restored, hair tonics alone cannot fully work. This protocol addresses both stages.
What’s Included
1. Wind Tea – 小柴胡加三仁汤 Xiao Chai Hu Jia San Ren Tang (30 teabags)
by Botanical Biohacking — Learn more →
Harmonizes the shaoyang layer to clear lingering viruses and flush the lymphatic system. The chief ingredient — 柴胡 Radix Bupleurum — contains key saponins that inhibit viral replication by docking to the receptor binding domain of SARS-CoV-2. Also widely used against reactivation of Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) — a common driver of long COVID and post-viral hair loss.
2. Microgard Plus (1 vial)
by Botanical Biohacking — Learn more →
Restores the GI microbiome — closely associated with nitric oxide homeostasis — which is essential for returning hair follicles to the growth phase. Breaks down biofilm, inhibits fungal overgrowth, and supports the digestive foundation that post-viral recovery depends on.
3. Danggui Yinzi – 当归饮子 (200g or 400g powder)
by Treasure of the East — the hair regrowth formula. Traditionally used to promote hair regrowth and healthy skin following febrile disease, the herbs in this formula have been clinically shown to express the VEGF gene and stimulate hair regrowth.
Prolonged viral infection damages the quality of the Blood in TCM terms, preventing follicles from returning to the anagen (growth) phase. Once the viral load is cleared and metabolic health is restored, Danggui Yinzi rebuilds blood quality and nourishes new hair growth from the root.
Note: Danggui Yinzi ships separately from our partner Treasure of the East and will arrive in a separate package.
