Rectify the Qi.
Clear the Damp. Relieve Whole-Body Pain.
Atone Tea is the super-premium Imperial Grade version of Huo Xiang Zheng Qi Tang (藿香正气汤) — meaning “Agastache Formula to Rectify the Qi.” Smooth, sweet, and genuinely delicious, this tea has been used for centuries in China as a frontline remedy for damp-type illness, and is one of the most widely recognized formulas in Chinese medicine for clearing pathological dampness from the body.
At Crawford Wellness, we recommend Atone Tea for patients with fibromyalgia, chronic viral illness, post-COVID conditions, and any presentation where damp-type heavy pain, digestive disruption, and immune vulnerability are central features.
Who Atone Tea Is For
Traditionally used for relief from:
- Fibromyalgia — damp-type whole-body heavy pain — especially flares triggered by viral infection, humidity, or dietary excess
- Post-viral illness & long COVID — clears residual damp-heat and restores healthy qi circulation
- Viral illness prevention — used extensively in China for prevention and early treatment of COVID-19 and other “damp plague” type viral diseases
- Summer flu & seasonal illness — externally contracted damp-type diseases with nausea, heaviness, and digestive upset
- Food poisoning & traveler’s diarrhea — one of China’s most trusted over-the-counter remedies for acute GI illness
- Nausea, bloating & digestive dampness — aromatically transforms damp accumulation in the middle jiao
- Preventative immune support — ideal as a summer and autumn drink to promote healthy fluid metabolism and increase resilience in high-exposure environments
Fibromyalgia Damp Pain Protocol
For fibromyalgia patients dealing with whole-body damp heavy pain, Atone Tea works powerfully in combination with:
- Aquada — clears damp heat from the joints and lower body
- Tibetan Foot Soaks — draws dampness downward and out through the feet
How Atone Tea Works
In TCM, pathological dampness is a fluid accumulation that settles in the muscles, joints, and digestive system — producing the characteristic heavy, achy, foggy feeling that fibromyalgia patients know well. When combined with heat (from viral infection, stress, or diet), it becomes damp heat — driving inflammation, immune dysregulation, and systemic pain.
Atone Tea works by:
- Aromatically transforming dampness — the volatile oils in Huo Xiang and Zi Su Ye disperse and dry pathological fluid accumulation
- Rectifying the qi — restoring the smooth downward and outward flow of qi through the lungs, stomach, and intestines
- Releasing the exterior — opening the pores to expel pathogens and damp through sweating
- Harmonizing the middle jiao — calming nausea, bloating, and digestive disruption
- Supporting immune defense — strengthening wei qi and the body’s ability to resist and clear viral pathogens
Key Ingredients & Their Healing Actions
- Huo Xiang / Agastache — the chief herb; aromatically transforms dampness, releases the exterior, harmonizes the middle jiao. Our leaf:stem ratio is ≥1:2 — far above the pharmacopeia minimum of 1:4 — delivering more leaf and more of the treasured volatile oils.
- Zi Su Ye / Perilla Leaf — releases the exterior, disperses cold, calms the fetus, relieves nausea. Top-quality purple-backed leaves sourced through direct connections — look for the beautiful purple color on the back of each leaf.
- Bai Zhi / Angelica Dahuricae — expels wind-damp, relieves pain and headache, reduces swelling
- Da Fu Pi / Areca Peel — moves qi downward, reduces abdominal distension, promotes urination to drain dampness
- Bai Zhu / Atractylodes — strengthens the spleen, dries dampness, supports digestive function
- Fu Ling / Poria — strengthens the spleen, resolves dampness, calms the mind
- Ban Xia Qu / Fermented Pinellia — unlike most HXZQ on the market using Fa Ban Xia, Botanical Biohacking uses the original Ban Xia Qu — a fermented mix of Ban Xia, ginger juice, and Shen Qu. This is the true traditional formula, more difficult to make but significantly more effective. Dries dampness, relieves nausea, harmonizes the stomach.
- Hou Po / Magnolia Bark — moves qi, dries dampness, reduces abdominal fullness and distension
- Jie Geng / Platycodon — opens the lungs, expels phlegm, directs the formula upward to the respiratory system
- Chen Pi / Aged Citrus Peel — moves qi, dries dampness, dissolves phlegm, harmonizes digestion
- Gan Cao / Licorice Root — harmonizes all herbs, tonifies spleen qi, reduces inflammation
Nerdy Highlights: Why This Formula Is Different
- Ban Xia Qu vs. Fa Ban Xia: Most HXZQ on the market uses Fa Ban Xia (processed with alum). Botanical Biohacking uses the original Ban Xia Qu — fermented Ban Xia with ginger juice and Shen Qu. More difficult to produce, but this is the true classical formula and significantly more potent for damp transformation.
- Huo Xiang leaf:stem ratio: The pharmacopeia requires a minimum leaf:stem ratio of 1:4. Most commercial products meet only this minimum. Atone Tea achieves a ratio of ≥1:2 — more leaf, more volatile oils, more aromatic damp-transforming power.
- Zi Su Ye sourcing: Top-quality Perilla leaf became extremely scarce during COVID-19 due to massive demand. Botanical Biohacking leveraged direct sourcing relationships to secure the best available — identifiable by the beautiful deep purple color on the back of each leaf.
How to Brew Atone Tea
Boil water and add 1–4 teabags. Steep covered for 10–20 minutes, strain and sip. Re-brew the same teabags several times until no flavor or aroma remains.
